Perm: An Excursion of the Undiscovered Gem

Most of the people traveling to Russia, only visit St. Petersburg and Moscow. However, there are so many undiscovered places. Perm is one such city that I came across. This place is certainly worth a visit. In case you travel to Perm, here are some of the best things that you can see or do.

Take a Walk along Kama River

The city is located at the edge of Kama River.  To spend a lazy afternoon, take a stroll along the river embankment. As I strolled, I came across the sculpture which has now become a symbolic structure of the city. You will find red letters in the Russian language which means, happiness isn’t behind the mountains. This is place against the river background and the bank that is the present opposite to it.

Catch a Ballet Dance Show

If you are a cultural buff like me and like opera, ballet, or poetry, visit the opera and ballet theatre. The ballet dance of this city is splendid. The pieces that they showcase put them on the same pedestal as Moscow’s Bolshoy or St. Petersburg’s Marrinsky. Even if you are visiting for a short period of time, you should not miss out on this.

Take Part in the Local Festival

Some internationally famous festivals are held in the city every year. One of the most popular ones is the film festival that had been inspired by Robert Flaherty. It attracts stars from all over the world. Another one is the International Diaghilev Festival. This is mainly for the lover of classical art. It is held in the month of June every year.

Check out Permyak Salty Ears

The city and the surrounding areas are known to be rich in minerals. All through the course of history, you will find the mention of salt. One of the primary symbols of the city is the Permyak Salty Ears.

Paraty: Explore the Charming Town in Brazil

This weekend I planned to visit Paraty. It is a small town situated at the southern tip of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The stunning natural wonders of the town are surely going to take you by surprise. Starting from natural wonders to colonial architect, you are going to find it all. You will find the region rich in various activities. Here are some of the things that you can include in your itineraries when you visit Paraty.

Visit the Historical Center

When you visit the historical center of Paraty, you will notice that it forms a significant part of the heritage and charm of the town. The architect of the building speaks of the Portuguese legacy. The brightly colored window and door frames appear so beautiful. You will find cobbled streets that connect them. Wander around Santa Rita church and also the houses that surround it.

Relax on the Beach

To relax and chill, I visited Barra do Corumbê. This is a small beach that offers an excellent view. It is the ideal spot if you want to spend some time with your family. The water is shallow and calm. Hence, it is the best place if you want to do some standup surf paddle. There are also some restaurants out here which offer delicious seafood.

Go for a Boat Trip

Taking a boat trip to check out the natural wonders is definitely the best thing that I tried out in Paraty. The tours start at 11 in the morning and take 4 hours to cover all the attractions. This way you can come across many scenic coves and beaches. There are snorkeling gears on the beach for checking out marine life. It also includes drinks and food.

Novosibirsk – Take a Tour of the Historic Town

Novosibirsk is the third most important city in Russia. It is only recently that tourists are discovering this city. The unspoiled natural beauty of the place is mesmerizing. The tour helped me experience the authentic taste of Russia. There are many places to explore. So, if you plan to visit the city anytime soon, here are a few things that you shouldn’t miss out on.

Art Museum

Visiting Novosibirsk and not visiting the Art Museum would have been a huge mistake. This is the extensive most galleries in Siberia. You will find everything from local crafts, sculptures, to exquisite icons. I was surprised to find out that there are more than 10,000 in this museum. Hence, there are a plethora of masterpieces that you can explore.

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

The historical cathedral had been created in 1898. It is one of the first buildings that have been made of stone. The architecture is characteristics of Neo-Byzantine style. What attracted me to the cathedral was the golden dome. I was told about this by my old friend Andrey who has Ukrainian descent.  He suggested I visit this spot when I arrived.  So glad to make the decision to do so.  It is just the perfect place to get away from the humdrum life of the city. The cathedral has a peaceful interior.

The Lenina Square

The heart of Novosibirsk is Lenina Square. It is brimming with culture and activity. The place is home to several important buildings in the city. You will also find some architectural excellence. Here you will find the State Concert Hall, Philaharmonic Orchestra, and also the Opera and the Ballet Theater. The central point of the square is the statue of Vladimir Lenin.

Novosibirsk Zoo

This is a world-famous zoo. If you are traveling with your kids, this is the best place to be. There are over 10,000 different animals. For me, it proved to be a natural getaway. I was thrilled to see the setting of the idyllic pine forest.
